Once new puppies arrive and those photos go on FB, we get inundated with inquiries! These irresistible puppies could sell themselves many times over, but we are really committed to serving our waitlist families first, especially families with special needs for assistance dogs. However, we need your help to be able to do this, so please read on.
When a new litter is planned and confirmed, we go to our sorted waitlists and sift through the family preferences to broadly identify families whose Adoption Form preferences would suit this litter and timing. This is quite a time-consuming process, and we work hard to provide the best match for families' and puppies’ needs. We also have to wait till the puppies arrive before we really know what we have to work with as far as numbers, colour and puppy gender!
Once the puppies arrive we know better what we are working with, and begin to map out more specific adoptions. That's when we notify the families, to confirm that a litter has arrived that meets their needs. We don't finalise allocation of puppies until about 6-7 weeks time, when all health checks are completed and we are able to best match the puppies' emerging personality and temperament.
This process becomes even more complicated and time-consuming if families change their minds about timing. We understand that family circumstances change, and sometimes this genuinely prohibits taking on a new four-legged family member at the time. However, there is an old saying - “there’s never a convenient time to have a baby"- and this applies to puppies as well.
We do our very best to provide the puppy in a reasonable timeframe, nature permitting, and must really work with the waitlist as our guide to be able to do this. We trust our adopting families understand this, and will do their best to ensure that they are ready for their puppy in the timeframe requested. Our booking fee is valid fof 12 months on the waitlist, and is non-refundable if you have declined puppy offers during the year.
If we have been unable to offer you the puppy you have asked for, within 12 months, then we will ask you to reconfirm your interest at this time. You may choose to continue on our waitlist for upcoming puppies, or to have your booking fee refunded. If any families buy a puppy from another breeder in the time they are on our waitlist, PLEASE let us know so that we can take you off our waitlist and give another family the earlier prospect of having their own puppy.
Keep an eye on our up-coming litters page to see what might be ahead when you want to apply for adoption. Remember nature is also involved in this whole process, and it is an uncontrollable variable. If you would like to adopt a Ridgy Didge Australian Cobberdog, please read our Adopting a Puppy information, before you continue the adoption process.
